Week 8, Day 3, Herpreet

Hello ladies!!! And Kevin, if you're out there!

My day 3 last week was an excellent boost. My triathlon class did a 6 mile bike ride over hilly terrain, and then we got off and ran 1/2 mile. I know that's not a lot of running, but your legs feel like led none-the-less after a bike ride.

I was especially pleased because I have FINALLY figured out the gears on my bike after all these years, and doubly pleased because I made it up some not-so-fun hills without dying or having to hop off my bike to walk it up-hill.

Didn't meet my goals in Week 7 - only 2 workouts. But the second was a 6 mile bike ride on a really gorgeous day!

Week 7, Day 1, Herpreet - and special message to Kevin

Hola!

Last week, we did a bike ride instead of a hike - the weather was bad on Saturday, so no hike. But Sunday, we got out and rode. I admit that after 2 1/2 miles we stopped and had a glass of wine and a sandwich before we rode 2 1/2 miles home...

TODAY!!!! A run on a beautiful day! I go at noon.

Kev - WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET YOU BACK ON TRACK???? HOW CAN WE HELP??

Week 5, Day 3

It was a cycle/jog!!! 40 minutes cycling indoors and then we transitioned to a short jog. So we'd start thinking about what the triathlon will feel like...That was Friday.

Week 4, Day 3, Herpreet

YAY AUSTIN!

Today, my triath. training class met at a place called the Veloway. It is a cycling and roller blading trail. No runners, No people with triple-wide strollers. No people walking 5 dogs. I love the Town Lake trail, but it gets mad-CROWDED.

The Veloway has two trails. One is a 3.1 mile loop with low hills, and the other loop is super hilly. We rode the less hilly one today - I did 6.2 miles. I am incredibly happy about this. I rode the entire way up the highest hill on my first round without having to lift off my bike, but on my second round, I had to lift.

My yoga seems to have fallen by the wayside. I'm going to see if I can find a Saturday or Sunday class at the Y, because I think it's more realistic that I'll make it to class on one of those days.

Week 2, Day 3. Herpreet

I did a cycling class today as part of my triathlon training. Cycling is not my favorite thing. Today the instructor talked a whole lot about cadence. Cadence. Cadence. Cadence. I don't have much cadence. Blah.

Week One Day Three, Herpreet!!!

WOO-HOOO! One happy bloggercizer today! I did all three days this week! YAY!
I did a five mile bike ride. 1 mile warm up (from my house to the YMCA from my house, where c. and I took a tour of our new gym!), a 3 mile ride from the trail that starts at the YMCA and goes along the trail at Town Lake, and then a 1 mile cool down from Town Lake to home!! That last mile was is all uphill too!!

And I'm SO happy to report that my YMCA has a triathlon instructor who does classes up to 5 students. She teaches year round, and the class time works with my school schedule.

Okay, everybody - you've got two more days to meet your goals. go go go go GO!

Here is a little joy from Texas! If Austin had a theme song, I'd post it, but alas.

Week 2, Day 1 Herpreet

OUCH!

Today made my 3rd day of cardio for the week. Or technically, it's my FIRST day of cardio for the coming week. I wish I was not so compulsively linear, but I am.

So. Week 2, Day 1 is where I'm really at. I did a bike ride instead of a run. It was four miles around Town Lake, and took me 20 minutes. It was all going really great until I got to the end of the loop and backtracked to the trail map. I wanted to see on the map exactly how many miles I'd cycled. As I was riding over the gravel, I didn't slow down enough and my bike slid. I fell off, scraped up both hands, my calf, my elbow and my thigh.

Tons of people were around, and NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON bothered to ask me if I was okay. NOT ONE PERSON. Then, as I was trying hopelessly to get my chain back onto the gears, this dude comes up, says, "Do you know what time it is?" I was CLEARLY flustered as I tried to fix the chain. I look at my watch, say, "Ten after one." and he (barely) says, "Thanks," and runs off.

Motherfuckers.

I just want to go on record with this: In Baton Rouge SOMEONE would have stopped to say, "Are you okay?" or to ask, "Do you need help with your chain.
